The Ho‘ōla iā Mauiakama Long Term Recovery Group and All Hands And Hearts are calling on the community to join the upcoming “Lahaina Clean-Up Kōkua” events to support residents impacted by the August 2023 wildfire. Volunteers will help clear fire-damaged properties and prepare them for rebuilding.

A partnership involving numerous donors is giving Lahainaluna High School juniors and seniors a red-carpet experience for their year-end proms. The effort continues last year’s prom dress drive initiated by Terri Ewbank, owner of Elly’s Formal Wear & Bridal in Kīhei, and now expanded through her newly formed nonprofit, Angel Hands Maui.

The Ho‘ōla iā Mauiakama Long Term Recovery Group and All Hands And Hearts are inviting the community to participate in the “Lahaina Clean-Up Kōkua” this holiday season to help Lahaina residents impacted by the August 2023 wildfire. This community-driven effort will organize teams of volunteers to clear ineligible debris from fire-damaged properties, supporting residents as they prepare to rebuild.

As New Zealand-based disaster relief group Taskforce Kiwi closes out its second year of operations, an initial rotation of skilled volunteers have departed for Hawaiʻi to support with wildfire recovery on the island of Maui.

Kupu ‘Āina Corps, a program formed to restore lands and communities affected by the wildfires on Maui and Hawaii Island, is now accepting applications for participants and host sites. Participants may apply for paid, career-building experiences with additional benefits. Organizations engaged in wildfire recovery and resiliency efforts on Maui and Hawai’i Island may apply as host sites.
