The Coast Guard is seeking the public’s help identifying the owner of an adrift dive float and flag found Thursday morning off Aston Paki Maui in Lahaina.

The Hawaiʻi National Guard along with Maui emergency responders will participate in a large-scale emergency operations exercise beginning Monday, Feb. 5, 2018.

The 62-year-old Australian was without communications equipment, an engine and his sails were in poor condition.

The US Coast Guard is seeking the public’s help identifying the owner of an adrift dive float found approximately three miles off Launiupoko, Maui, Thursday.

The Coast Guard responded to a report of a disabled ocean rowboat with one person aboard approximately 35 miles northeast of Maui on Tuesday.

A 72-year-old man arrived safely to Maui Wednesday, after being medevaced 170 miles from a cruise ship offshore.

The exercise will take place on the water and in the air near Molokini Crater with Coast Guard and local agencies working together to evaluate response.

The owner of an unmanned dinghy found floating adrift off of Maui on Monday has since been located and is not in distress. The US Coast Guard issued an update saying the dinghy had broken loose from the harbor.

Coast Guard crews aboard a 45-foot response boat were conducting training in the area and diverted to the scene about three miles off the coast of Wailea according to a press release issued by the agency today.

A salvage operation to remove a 35-foot sailboat from the reef outside the Lahaina Small Boat Harbor was completed on Monday.

Surfers and boaters are asked to stay clear of the removal operation that begins tomorrow. Parker Marine will secure heavy lines to the vessel and its mast, and by afternoon begin pulling them in with a winch to the nearby Kamehameha Iki beach park.

An insurance company was on scene yesterday trying to stabilize the vessel with lines. The Molokai Ferry reportedly offered to assist in efforts to pull the vessel free during high tide.
