Maui COVID-19 Clusters are Down in Latest Weekly Report

While construction was not identified in this week’s report, Maui Mayor Michael Victorino on Wednesday confirmed that there is a a cluster at a construction company that contributed to today’s double-digit count of new cases in Maui County.

There are 18 COVID-19 clusters identified in Maui County, according to an updated report issued on Thursday, April 22, 2021. This includes: 11 in the travel/lodging/tourism sector, five at educational settings, one at a food supplier, and one at a restaurant.

Maui Jail Clear of COVID-19 Cases

The Maui Community Correctional Center is now clear of all active COVID-19 cases, according to the state Department of Public Safety. The department today reported that the remaining two inmates with active positive cases have since recovered.

Active COVID-19 Infections at Maui Jail Drop to Five; One Inmate Hospitalized

The COVID-19 cluster at the Maui Community Correctional Center was updated today to include just five inmates who have active infections. Of the 88 inmates who tested positive, 83 have since recovered.

The COVID-19 case count at the Harbor Lights condominium complex in Kahului has risen to 68 confirmed, according to an update provided by Maui Mayor Michael Victorino.

Maui District Health Office Discusses COVID-19 Cluster at Lahaina Bar, Urges Continued Vigilance

Health officials on Maui have identified a cluster involving the convergence of people at a restaurant and bar in West Maui. It is unclear where the source of the infection came from, but health officials are asking anyone who was at The Dirty Monkey on Aug. 22, to self quarantine for 14 days through Sept. 5, 2020.

Maui and O‘ahu COVID-19 Clusters Detailed

Several clusters on Maui are being tracked by the state Department of Health, including small clusters arising from activity at a construction site. In another cluster, DOH officials say five Maui residents held a party on Oʻahu.  One case from the party attended another gathering while ill and symptomatic.  Nine cases were later associated with this party.

Hawai‘i Reports 15th COVID-19 Death

An O‘ahu man, over the age of 65, with underlying health conditions passed away last night. He had been in the hospital since early March and his infection was presumed to be community associated. To date, there are 15 COVID-19 related deaths in Hawai‘i–10 on O‘ahu and five on Maui.

Hawai‘i Logs Two More Deaths Linked to COVID-19, Bringing State Total to 14

One is an O‘ahu man who had been hospitalized since the beginning of April, was over 65-years-old, and had underlying medical conditions. He had a history of travel to Las Vegas in March. The other is also an O‘ahu man, over 65-years-old, who’d also been hospitalized recently and also had underlying health conditions. His infection was the result of community-associated spread.

Hawai‘i Has Two More Deaths Linked to COVID-19: One More Each on Maui and O‘ahu

On Maui, the man who passed also had underlying health conditions. He had been in the hospital at Maui Memorial Medical Center (MMMC) since late last year. This person’s death is considered related to the MMMC cluster, which as of yesterday had 36 staff and 20 patients under investigation as potentially associated with the cluster.
