Man injured by accidental discharge of firearm at Kula home

A 28-year-old man sustained a gunshot wound to his thigh after a firearm accidentally discharged while it was being cleaned, police said.

Maui Firearm Permits Down 26%, Registrations Drop 27%

In Maui County, there were 1,662 personal firearm permit applications processed in 2017, marking a 26% decrease from the tally in 2016.

Hawaii Firearm Permits at Record High in 2011

Here on Maui, the County processed 18% more applications and rejected 100% more applications than expected. In Maui County, there were a total of 1,965 Applications Processed; 1,842 Applications Approved/Permits Issued; 73 Applications Approved/Permits Voided; 50 Applications Rejected; 2.5% Rejection Rate; 4,569 Firearms Registered; and 2,108 Firearms Imported.

Hawaii Firearm Permits Reach Record High in 2010

Based on its population size, Maui County processed 27% more applications and rejected 236% more applications than expected, according to the report.
