West Maui visitors advised to leave Lahaina and Maui; airlines reporting open flights
A mass bus evacuation for visitors will be staged at Sheraton Maui Resort in Kāʻanapali this afternoon and take visitors directly to Kahului Airport. Five County of Maui buses, each with a capacity of 49 people, and five Polynesian Adventure Tours buses, each with a capacity of 50, will provide the transportation, with the first wave of buses scheduled for around 4 p.m.
Three Trans-Pacific Flights Arrive at Kahului on Thursday, Bringing 129 Passengers to Maui
Yesterday marked ten weeks since the state’s mandatory 14-day self-quarantine started for all passengers arriving in Hawai‘i from out-of-state. On Thursday, June 4, a total of 1,621 people arrived in Hawai‘i on 19 trans-Pacific flights–including 546 visitors and 433 returning residents.
No Trans-Pacific Flights to Maui for Second Day This Week
For a second day this week, Maui County had no trans-Pacific flights (domestic flights) from the mainland on Thursday. Only Delta Airlines is flying from Los Angeles to Kahului-Maui, Kona-Hawaiʻi and Līhuʻe-Kauaʻi 3 to 4 times a week.

Visitor Statistics on the Rise for Maui, the State
November arrivals to Maui increased 2.8% to 193,355 and visitor days increased by 3.8% in November 2015 compared to last year. Maui also saw a 7.5% increase in exclusive stay to the island in November. Visitors to Maui spent $320.4 million, a +5.2% increase over last November, bolstered by higher daily spending (+1.3% to $198 per person). Growth in arrivals from US West (+3.6%) and US East (+3.8%) offset declines from Japan (-7.9%) and Canada (-3.7%).

Total arrivals to the Hawaiian Islands reached a new record for the month of October, with a 4.8 percent growth to 692,930 visitors in October 2015, according to preliminary statistics released by the Hawai‘i Tourism Authority.

Increased Visitors Spending More on Maui Than Last Year
For the first quarter of 2015, total visitor expenditures increased on Maui by 5.4% and Kauaʻi by 6.2%, but declined on Hawaiʻi Island by 8.3% and Oʻahu by 1.8%. Total visitor expenditures of $5 billion were similar last year during the same time period, according to preliminary statistics recently released by the Hawaiʻi Tourism Authority.
