Andaz Maui at Wailea Resort, situated on Maui’s southwestern coastline along Mōkapu Beach, announced the completion of its enhanced room product. Marking the resort’s 10th anniversary, the refresh establishes a new decade for the property and includes a redesign of key components within the resort’s 320 guest rooms, including 35 suites.  

PARK MAUI is a new county initiative that focuses on improving parking management and accessibility on Maui, with a pilot program slated to launch late this summer for the Ulua/Mōkapu beach and Kamaʻole park locations in South Maui, as well as the towns of Lahaina and Wailuku.

Ulua/Mōkapu Beach Park in Wailea will be closed May 8-12, 2023 for the removal of a large fallen tree that is blocking part of the beach access.

State officials reopened a stretch of shoreline in Wailea on Sunday , Jan. 24, 2016, following a shark encounter on Saturday.

Witnesses to yesterday’s shark sighting incident in Wailea described the shark’s behavior as “aggressive,” saying a large tiger shark pursued ocean goers in the Ulua and Mokapu Beach areas.

Maui Now received reports of a shark sighting at Mokapu Beach in South Maui on Saturday morning, Jan. 16, 2016. Bystanders report that a tiger shark reportedly followed two people and exhibited aggressive behavior. No injuries were reported. DNLR was on scene at last report.
