#pearl harbor remembrance day

“Today, the First Lady and I were able to honor in solemn remembrance at the Pearl Harbor National Memorial the sacrifices of the thousands of men and women who lost their lives on Dec. 7, 1941, during an attack that shook Hawai‘i and our nation,” said Gov. Green.

More than 2,400 American patriots were killed during the tragedy.

It is “a date which will live in infamy,” according to words uttered by President Franklin D. Roosevelt as he asked for a declaration of war in response to the Dec. 7, 1941 attack.
