Veteran government attorney Ryan Kanakaʻole nominated as DLNR first deputy
Governor Josh Green, M.D., has nominated veteran government attorney Ryan Kanaka‘ole as Department of Land and Natural Resources first deputy, effective Tuesday, Jan. 16. The nomination is subject to confirmation by the Hawai‘i State Senate.
Senate WAM Committee delves into priorities during recent site visit to Maui and Molokaʻi

OHA announces 12 grant solicitations to support Native Hawaiians
The Office of Hawaiian Affairs is making available more than $9 million in grant solicitations to help Native Hawaiians. Solicitations include community grants to strengthen ʻohana (family), moʻomeheu (culture) and ʻāina (land) connections, and grants to support education, health, housing, economic stability, homestead communities, and iwi kūpuna repatriation and reinterment.

The Office of Hawaiian Affairs (OHA) has $14.9 million in grant funds now available to organizations that intend to help Native Hawaiians in 12 categories, including health, education, housing and economic stability.
