With more than 2,500 “green” jobs on Maui, and an estimated additional 437 more jobs by 2012 coming from “green job” fields, UH Maui College’s Sustainable Living Institute of Maui (SLIM) and VITEC are partnering to prepare Maui’s workforce to make the transition.

There are many community organizations that stand in alliance with the development of these technologies. One such organization is The Sustainable Living Institute of Maui, also known as SLIM. Part of UHMC, SLIM’s mission is to “integrate the principles of sustainability into all levels of education to help people build skills that are compatible with the community’s cultural, environmental, and economic aspirations.”
