The Board of Directors of Maui Humane Society announced the appointment of Dr. Lisa M. Labrecque, DVM, as the organization’s new Chief Executive Officer. She will start work at the shelter in Puʻunēnē on July 19, 2023.

Free spay/neuter Good Fix clinic in Hāna, June 6-8

A free spay/neuter clinic will be offered in Hāna, June 6-8, 2023. This partnership between Maui Humane Society and Greater Good Charities’ Good Fix program, will allow upwards of 500 owned pets (dogs and cats) and free-roaming cats to be spayed or neutered to help effectively and humanely control the pet population over time.

Maui Humane Society Celebrates Record Breaking 800 Spay/Neuter Surgeries in Wake of Pandemic Disruption

The onset of COVID required MHS to temporarily stop performing elective surgeries like spay and neuter for public animals. The ten week hiatus meant that more kittens were born, adding to Maui’s community cat overpopulation. Since reopening in July, Vet staff have worked to make up for the disruption in service.
