The eruption of Kīlauea within Halemaʻumaʻu crater resumed at 11:28 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 24, 2025, when fountain-fed lava flows erupted out of the north vent. This marks the beginning of the sixth episode of the current eruption that began on Dec. 23, 2024.

The eruption of Kīlauea within the Kaluapele summit caldera resumed just before 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2025. This marks the beginning of the fifth episode of the current eruption that began on Dec. 23, 2024, following the most recent pause that began on Saturday, Jan. 18, 2025.

The summit eruption at Kīlauea volcano that began on Dec. 23 entered its fourth eruptive episode on Jan. 15 and continues this morning. Activity is concentrated at two lava fountains in southwest Kaluapele that have each built up a cone and have associated lava flows.

The summit eruption at Kīlauea volcano that began on Dec. 23 appears to have entered its forth eruptive episode this morning at about 9:15 a.m. with a small lava flow exiting the north vent, following low-level continuous lava spattering that started around 5:40 a.m. from the same vent.

The eruption at Kīlauea volcano that began on Monday, Dec. 23, continues today.  Over the past day, vents in the southwest portion of the caldera have continued producing a fan of lava flows covering the southwest portion of the crater floor, with sustained lava fountaining, according to a daily update issued by the Hawaiian Volcano Observatory.
