A 56-year-old Kahului man suffered critical life-threatening injuries when he was ejected from a moped he was operating during a collision on Wednesday night in Waiehu.

A fatal motor vehicle accident has forced the closure of the Lahaina Bypass at the Honoapiʻilani Highway in West Maui. The accident involved a bicyclist and a motor vehicle, Maui police spokesperson Alana Pico tells Maui Now. An investigation is currently underway and there is no estimated time for when the road will be reopened. The closure went into effect at around 8:47 a.m. on Tuesday, June 6, 2023.

Two people are dead following an early morning traffic crash involving a pickup truck that collided into a parked car on the shoulder of North Kīhei Road on Maui.

A 28-year-old pedestrian suffered fatal injuries after being struck by a vehicle while attempting to cross Kahului Beach Road on Sunday night, according to Maui police. A motor vehicle crash damaged a fire hydrant and affected water service for Wailuku Town this morning. Department of Water Supply crews are on scene and expect to have the problem repaired by 1 p.m., according to an update issued by County officials.
