A section of Baldwin Beach, also known as Kapuka‘ulua, will be temporarily closed for tree stump removal on Thursday, Aug. 21, and Friday, Aug. 22, 2025, according to the County of Maui Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR).

Kaumahina Wayside along the Hāna Highway will be closed from June 12 – June 22 for a tree removal project.

Ulua/Mōkapu Beach Park in Wailea will be closed May 8-12, 2023 for the removal of a large fallen tree that is blocking part of the beach access.

Hurricane season in Hawaiʻi runs from June through November. With just one week before the start, it’s time to get properties prepared, including checking on trees and shrubs for any special care. Even if a storm doesn’t make landfall in the islands, it can pass close enough to cause significant damage.

Nearly 30 trees will be removed along portions of Olinda and Piʻiholo Roads near the Waihou Spring Forest Reserve to improve safety in and around the area.

Emergency tree removal along Piʻiholo Road will begin on Monday, March 26, according to an announcement from the Department of Public Works.

The Maui Budget and Finance Committee recommended passage of a bill to fund the removal of eucalyptus trees in the county-owned right of way on Piʻiholo Road.

The county’s effort to remove 112 hazardous trees from an area along Piʻiholo Road is nearly 18% complete since crews began the removal process on Monday.

More than 100 trees will be removed from the county right of way on Piʻiholo Road due to hazardous conditions.

The Department of Land and Natural Resources, Division of Forestry and Wildlife will briefly close the Keʻanae Arboretum on March 29-30 for tree removal.

Hazardous trees and branches were removed from Hosmer Grove, and the campground was re-opened today following a three week closure.
