The County of Maui Department of Parks and Recreation will host one-day mass permitting events for summer 2025 private-party rentals of community centers in three districts.

A change in the construction timeline for improvements at the Velma McWayne Santos Community Center has resulted in the availability of additional dates this year for use of the popular facility in Wailuku

Restrooms at the Velma McWayne Santos Community Center and Pāpōhaku Park in Wailuku will be closed today and tomorrow (Wednesday, Jan. 22, and Thursday, Jan. 23), for repair work to the wastewater manholes that service the facilities.

The Office of the County Clerk on Maui will use the Velma McWayne Santos Community Center in Wailuku as a voter service center for the 2020 elections.

The building is scheduled to be closed to the public for construction from April 23 to September 30; however, if there are no delays and work proceeds unimpeded the center could open much sooner.
