Update: Maui Flood Advisory extended to 1:30 p.m.
The National Weather Service has extended a Flood Advisory for the island of Maui until 1:30 p.m. At 11:13 a.m., radar continued to show heavy rain over north facing slopes of Haleakalā, including the Hāna Highway.
Kaiser Permanente marks annual Day of Service with volunteer project at Paeloko Learning Center
More than 100 Kaiser Permanente physicians, providers, nurses, clinical and administrative staff, and their family members came together on Martin Luther King Jr. Day to serve at Paeloko Learning Center as part of the 2026 Kaiser Permanente Hawaiʻi Annual Day of Service, hosted by Hawaiʻi Permanente Medical Group.
Bill 9’s first reading to be scheduled after council fills vacancy
Maui County Council Chair Alice L. Lee announced that first reading of the bill to phase out transient vacation rentals in Apartment Districts will be scheduled for a council meeting hopefully in December while the council turns its attention to filling the vacancy created by the passing of Council Member Tasha Kama.

Registration open for fifth year of Ahupuaʻa Stewards Program on Maui
Hawai‘i Land Trust, Hawaiʻi’s statewide local nonprofit land trust that protects, stewards, and connects people to the lands that sustain Hawaiʻi, is partnering with the University of Hawai‘i Maui College for the fifth year of the Ahupua‘a Stewards Leadership Program. The program is supported by Kamehameha Schools and the Robert F. Orr Charitable Foundation.

Brown Water Advisories issued for Central, South and West Maui locations
A Brown Water Advisory has been issued at multiple coastlines around Central, South and West Maui including: Waihe’e to Kahului Harbor; Uwapo Road to Cove Park; Māʻalaea to McGregor Point; Puamana to Pāpalaua; Kahana Village; Hanakaʻōʻō Beach Park; and DT Fleming Beach Park.
