Front Expected to Bring Showers, High Winds For Weekend

High Surf Advisory: North and west shores of Molokai and north shores of Maui through 6 a.m. Saturday.
Small Craft Advisory: All northeast waters and channels through 6 p.m. Friday.
Gale Watch: In effect from Saturday afternoon through Sunday afternoon.
Special Weather Statement: Very windy conditions are expected this weekend. These winds will be especially gusty at higher elevations and through mountain gaps and downsloping areas. If you have outdoor activities planned, you may want to postpone them or reconsider your plans.

Winds are transitioning to light and variables Friday as a front approaches from the northwest. This front is forecast to move across most of the state over the weekend before stalling near the Big Island early next week. An increase in showers is forecast to accompany passage of the front. Behind it, very strong trade winds are forecast for the state this weekend.
Partly sunny skies with isolated windward and mauka showers and sunny skies for the leeward sides. High temperatures from 79° to 84°. East winds around 10 to 15 mph with local afternoon sea breezes in leeward spots.

Partly cloudy in the evening then becoming mostly cloudy and breezy with scattered showers. Low temperatures from 66° to 71°. Northeast winds increasing to 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 40 mph after midnight.
