Work has begun on a $692,546 upgrade project at the Haʻikū Community Center’s restroom and kitchen.

The Maui Department of Parks and Recreation awarded the contract to Central Construction Inc.

“This project is more progress toward improving public park facilities for our residents,” said Maui Mayor Michael Victorino. “Improvements will include new kitchen appliances, stainless steel counters, new restroom partitions and all new fixtures and finishes. I want to thank everyone for their patience while work is ongoing.”

Other improvements include a new grease interceptor, electrical and ventilation improvements and accessibility improvements to comply with the American with Disabilities Accessibility Guidelines.
