Here is an ongoing list of event cancellations or postponed activities impacting Maui County as a result of winds, rain and flooding associated with Tropical Cyclone Lala. Check back for updates, which will be posted as they become available.

• Veterans Recognition Luncheon postponed: The Maui County Veterans Council has postponed its Veterans Recognition Luncheon originally scheduled for today, Saturday, Aug. 15, at the Maui Beach Hotel. The decision was made out of an abundance of caution due to the uncertainty surrounding potential severe weather and with the safety of veterans, kūpuna, guests, volunteers and community partners. A new event date will be announced shortly. All previously purchased tickets will be honored for the rescheduled event. • Office of the Mayor’s annual Holomua Kākou talk-story gathering and drop-in centers on Lānaʻi slated for Aug. 17-18, 2026, will be rescheduled.

Facility, service cancellations or changes

• MEO transportation services modified due to approaching severe weather: Maui Economic Opportunity, Inc. (MEO) transportation is operating modified services beginning Saturday, Aug. 15, 2026, due to approaching severe weather associated with Tropical Storm Lala.  Human Services transportation on Maui, including Hāna, will provide essential services for medical appointments and dialysis treatment. Moloka’i rural shuttle operations will end by 12 noon.  The Maui Bus ADA Paratransit services will end by 2 p.m. on Saturday, with the majority of last departures taking place by 12 p.m. As shelters open on Maui, same-day reservations will be allowed for eligible paratransit riders to be transported to a shelter. Individuals should follow directives from official County of Maui sources for evacuation or sheltering-in-place recommendations. • Maui Bus changes: County of Maui Department of Transportation on Saturday, Aug. 15 will suspend or end early certain Maui Bus services. Transit services for Sunday will be determined by midday Saturday. For updated information, visit mauibus.org. On Saturday, Maui Bus commuter services to West and South Maui are suspended; the Kahului Transit Center will close once all routes have been completed; ADA Paratransit services will also end by 2 p.m., with most routes departing by noon; Maui Bus Fixed-Route services will end by 2 p.m., with most routes departing by noon (some will depart earlier).
• Makawao Ave. reconstruction work: Department of Public Works reconstruction project on Makawao Avenue cancelled work on Saturday and Sunday due to weather.
