Three men were arrested at Kahului Airport on Wednesday for alleged quarantine violations. Among those arrested were two California men and a man from Oʻahu.

A Maui woman was arrested on Monday for alleged violation of rules and orders related to travel quarantine.

Maui police responded to six burglaries, eight vehicle thefts and six vehicle break-ins in Maui County over a seven day period from April 11-17, 2021.

The incidents involved: a Pennsylvania man who allegedly refused to wear a face mask; an Oʻahu man who did not have a negative pre-travel test or secured lodging in which to complete the state’s mandatory 10-day travel quarantine; and a California man with an outstanding warrant who is accused of violating the state’s rules and orders related to quarantine.

Police say Dylan Lecker-Agnew, 26, of Hāna, allegedly fled on foot at around 2:10 p.m., before being transported to the Maui Community Correctional Center.

The citations included: 177 for use of a mobile electronic device while driving; 173 seatbelt violations; 1 child restraint violation; four citations for pickup truck restrictions; 38 moving violations; and 28 citations for other violations.

An Illinois woman was arrested on Maui on Thursday, April 8, 2021 for alleged violation of rules and orders related to travel quarantine.

The percentage of burglary cases increased 33 percent from the week before when six incidents were reported. Vehicle thefts increased 300 percent from the week before when two incidents were reported. Vehicle break-ins neither increased nor decreased from the week before when seven incidents were also reported.

The percentage of burglary cases decreased 40 percent from the week before when 10 incidents were reported. Vehicle thefts decreased 50 percent from the week before when four incidents were reported. Vehicle break-ins decreased 30 percent from the week before when 10 incidents were reported.

A Kīhei man arrested during this month’s Operation Keiki Shield 7 law enforcement operation, is now accused of sex assault by individuals who have since come forward, police said.

Over the 20 year period between 2000 and 2020, the annual number of permits processed in Maui County increased 261.4 percent, the number of firearms annually registered soared 409.1 percent, and the tally of firearms annually imported was up 466 percent. Record high tallies of firearms registered and imported were reported for 2020.

Vehicle thefts decreased 33 percent from the week before when six incidents were reported. Vehicle break-ins increased 43 percent from the week before when seven incidents were reported.
