Today, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) approved the State of Hawai‘i’s request for federal aid to contain the Kahana Ridge fire on Maui.

The Kahana Ridge fire is now 55 percent contained, and the acreage affected was under 1,000 acres, the Maui Fire Department reported.
