The Hawai’i International Film Festival will host screening of this year’s films at the Maui Arts and Cultural Center this month. 

Haleakalā National Park is displaying art from its museum archives in a special exhibit at the Headquarters Visitor Center located at the 7,000 foot elevation.

This year’s festival pays tribute to Hāna-born educator and ethnobotanist, Dr. Isabella Kauakea Aiona Abbot, who was one of the world’s leading experts on limu. Dr. Abbot was recognized as the first native Hawaiian woman to earn a PhD in science. 

Budding dancers will take center stage at the Kāʻanapali Beach Hotel this weekend for Hula o Nā Keiki, Mauiʻs only solo childrenʻs hula competition. 

In celebration of their 20th anniversary, Maui’s own Ekolu will be hosting a special concert on Saturday featuring a lineup of other local artists. 

Mauiʻs own Jazz artist Braddah Keoki Ruiz will perform at The Shops at Wailea on Wednesday. 

Drawn from the “interwoven and interdependent nature of our world,” the performance will feature local dancers using their own “physical language” to explore individual and embodied stories. 

Male R&B vocal group 98° will be performing at the Maui Arts and Cultural Center a special Valentine’s weekend concert.

The two-hour ecotour will include informative activities, a Hawaiian blessing, and hula performances. 

Akakū will be hosting its 6th Maui Walk of Heroes this coming Saturday.

Simon undertook the concerts with the goal of devoting his net earnings to designated local environmental organizations, and recently made donations totaling just over $1.1 million.

A Source of Light, Constant and Never Fading uses 12 double-sided panels to feature historical and modern photographs, letters from the early residents of Kalaupapa, quotes from the aliʻi and the people of Kalaupapa, mele and other historical events often left out of traditional histories.

This yearʻs Halloween costume contest at the Shops at Wailea saw a variety of elaborate outfits, from a silly sushi roll to an adorable Alfalfa. 

For a $1 donation, attendees will get the chance to climb in to a variety of different large trucks and specialty vehicles, including a cement truck, a police car, an ambulance, and a rubbish truck. 

The 15-year-old Kamehameha Schools Kapālama junior released her first clothing line when she was 12.

Wailuku’s Market Street will be adorned with vibrant street decorations, a street procession, and participatory art installations on Friday in honor of Dia de los Muertos.
