A new music collective is shaping Maui’s underground nightlife with a steady pulse of house and techno.

A multi-room music and art event called Cosmic Soirée will light up Fuzion Fit in Haʻikū this Saturday night, bringing together more than a dozen DJs, live performances and a community-driven mission to give back.

The parade will start promptly at 9 a.m., but attendees are encouraged to come early as road closures start at 7:45 a.m. along Baldwin Avenue and 8:45 a.m. along Makawao Avenue.

The Oskie Rice Event Center on Olinda Road in Makawao has been the home of all things Upcountry, Maui, for years. In a few days, the opening of the Makawao Stampede Festivities week begins.

Produced by Maui Public Art Corps in collaboration with the County of Maui and kumu hula Sissy Lake-Farm of Hālau Makana Aloha O Ka Lauaʻe, the piece is one of three large-scale murals being unveiled in June through the Hui Mo‘olelo program, which pairs professional artists with community members to create place-based public art.
