Wailuku Gas Trending Downward
The AAA Daily Fuel Gauge report shows gas at $4.12 for a gallon of regular in Wailuku—that’s down two cents from yesterday, six cents from a week ago, and 29 cents from a month ago. The price is also down about 26 cents from the same time last year.

Coast Guard Responds to Tugboat Fire off Maui
Several Honolulu-based Coast Guard units responded to a vessel on fire approximately 69 miles northwest of Maui, on Wednesday. Coast Guard officials say the tug was in transit from Seattle to Honolulu, when an engineer on board reported hearing a fire alarm.

VIDEO: Pedestrian Dies in Ka’ahumanu Traffic Accident
Police say the man was trying to cross the road outside of an unmarked crosswalk when he was struck by a gray 2000 Toyota RAV4 being operated by a 50-year-old Makawao resident. The pedestrian was initially transported to the Maui Memorial Medical Center in critical condition, but police say he later succumbed to his injuries and died.
Highway Improvements Planned Near Auwahi Wind Site

“Apparently, the male fell from the tuna tower of his fishing boat, landed on a mounted fighting chair, and then fell again onto the boats deck where Coast Guard members found him.”

A broken waterline in South Maui has since been fixed and water service was fully restored at approximately 12 noon today.
Pu’ukoli’i Substation Fire Causes $1 Million Damage
Damage to the Mobile Transformer was estimated at one million dollars. Electrical service has been restored to remaining customers in Pu’ukoli’i as of 12:59 p.m. The outage was caused by a fire at the company’s Pu’ukoli’i Substation at around 7 a.m. and resulted in a power outage for much of the Ka’anapali resort area.
Search Suspended for Missing Airplane Near Maui

West Maui Family Receives Early Holiday Cheer
The Sulunga-Kahaialii ΄ohana of Napili was chosen to participate in an early holiday celebration and a dream day to remember. The family’s 11-year-old Sina, who is in need of a life-saving kidney transplant, has been under close medical care since April, 2012.
