Brief outages were reported in parts of Lahaina, Waiehu and Upcountry Maui, after a large diesel generating unit at the Maui Electric Company Maalaea Power Plant tripped offline.

The Maui Fire Department announced the promotion of two firefighters this month: G. Nelson Saribay, Jr. to Captain, and Reza Azman to Firefighter III. Both are assigned to the Ho’olehua station on Molokai.

An air and land search was launched this afternoon for an individual reported missing on Maui. A neighbor contacted authorities at around 12:19 p.m. today saying the individual failed to show up from kayaking.

The new concrete structure replaces the old bridge that was built in 1915. The old structure was among a list of county bridges identified to have structural deficiencies.
