Police arrested Ezekiel Wakinekona of Kameula on suspicion of abuse of a household member. The arrest stems from a report on Friday, January 13, of a 3-year-old girl who was found at home unconscious with labored breathing.

Hana Woman Killed in Nahiku Crash
A 57-year-old Hana woman suffered fatal injuries when the vehicle she was in traveled off the Hana Highway near Nahiku. The driver, a 39-year-old man, was arrested for suspicion of negligent homicide and released pending further investigation. Maui police say the involvement of speed and alcohol are suspected.

The incidents included two incidents each in Kihei and Wailuku; and single incidents in Honokohau Valley and Makawao.
Missing Teen Found in Bamboo Forest Rescue
A 17 year old male hiker was found in the area of the bamboo forest trail two hours after being reported missing. The teen was hiking with a group of six individuals when he decided to turn back about three miles into the hike.

BREAKING: Governor Appoints Lindsey to Maui OHA Seat
Governor Neil Abercrombie is expected to announce his appointment of Carmen Kahulumealani “Hulu” Lindsey tomorrow as Maui’s newest trustee to the Office of Hawaiian Affairs. Lindsey will fill the post that was vacated by retired Judge Boyd Mossman, who resigned on November 2, 2011 to fulfill a church calling in Kona.
