Curt Otaguro named Deputy Director of Transportation for Airports
As Deputy Director of Transportation for Airports, Otaguro will be responsible for management of the 15 airports in the State Airports System. This includes operation, upgrade, and maintenance of airfield and terminal infrastructure to meet Federal Aviation Administration safety standards and customer experience expectations.
Repairs at Daniel K Inouye International Airport to result in temporary runway closure
The Hawai‘i Department of Transportation will temporarily close Runway 8R/26L at the Daniel K. Inouye International Airport on Wednesday, Feb. 7, from 7 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. for taxiway and runway repairs. All other runways at HNL will be available for operations and HDOT has coordinated with airlines and other partners to minimize impacts to flights.
Gov. Green appoints James Kunane Tokioka as DBEDT director
Governor Josh Green, M.D. announced James Kunane Tokioka will serve as the Director of the Department of Business, Economic Development, and Tourism. A former member of the Kaua‘i County Council and Hawai‘i State House of Representatives, Tokioka worked his way through the hotel industry, both here in Hawai‘i and across the United States.
$11 Million in Economic Coronavirus Relief for 5 Airports in Maui County
The Hawaiʻi Department of Transportation Airports Division has received authorization for $11,098,912 in Coronavirus Relief and Response Supplemental Appropriations for five airports in Maui County. It’s part of a larger $46.3 million appropriation for a dozen airports across the state.
