Maui Public Art Corps presents ‘Hui Moʻolelo: Lahaina’ Film Festival, Feb. 22-23
Maui Public Art Corps in collaboration with the County of Maui, Hale Hōʻikeʻike at the Bailey House / Maui Historical Society and Lahaina Restoration Foundation will host its fourth Hui Mo‘olelo Film Festival from 3 to 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 22 and 23, 2025, FREE at ProArts Playhouse in Kīhei.
Maui Public Art Corps begins mural at Lahaina Health Clinic
A mural surrounding the temporary Kaiser Permanente Lahaina Clinic will be painted beginning this week, with a blessing and public unveiling scheduled for the end of November 2024. The project is part of the Maui Public Art Corps’ Hui Mo‘olelo: Lahaina program, which cultivates stories celebrating Lahaina history, culture and sense of place and engages community members to co-design art that is directly rooted in these stories.
‘The Peek-a-Bows’ Season 2 premieres Oct. 28 on YouTube
Following the success of its first season, the beloved children’s series “The Peek-a-Bows” is returning for Season 2, premiering on Monday, Oct. 28, 2024, at 3 p.m. on YouTube. This season brings ‘Alani, Lena, and Poni, the colorful sisters of the rainbow, to life once again, captivating keiki and ‘ohana with storytelling, humor and cultural themes.
King Kamehameha III alumna to design Lahaina-inspired mural for campus
Maui Public Art Corps will begin a six-week process on Nov. 5 to install a large-scale mural across the temporary campus of King Kamehameha III Elementary School, located at 100 Akahele St. in Lahaina.

Maui Public Art Corps, in partnership with the County of Maui, Hale Hō‘ike‘ike at the Bailey House/ Maui Historical Society and the Lahaina Restoration Foundation, has released a request for proposals for participatory public art projects. Projects include a mural at the temporary campus of King Kamehameha III Elementary School and a mural at the Kaiser Permanente Lahaina Clinic. The deadline to apply is Sept. 8, 2024.
May edition of Hawaiian Music Series features Nāpua
The next Hawaiian Music Series of 2024 will take place on Thursday, May 30 at 6 p.m., at Hale Ho’ike’ike at the Bailey House in Wailuku. This free event will feature well-known local musician Nāpua Silva.

Maui Public Art Corps in collaboration with the County of Maui and Hale Hōʻikeʻike at the Bailey House / Maui Historical Society will host its third “Hui Mo‘olelo Film Festival” from 3 to 5 p.m. on Saturday, April 27. The event is FREE and will be held at ProArts Playhouse in Kīhei. The public is invited to this premiere of a new collection of animated film shorts that celebrate Maui history, culture and sense of place.

$30,000 National Endowment for the Arts Grant for Maui’s Hui Moʻolelo program
The County of Maui announced that it has been awarded a prestigious Grants for Arts Projects Award in the amount of $30,000 by the National Endowment for the Arts. This grant will support the County’s Hui Mo’olelo program, a collaborative initiative in partnership with Maui Public Art Corps and Hale Hōʻikeʻike at the Bailey House/ Maui Historical Society.

Pop-up performance by Anthony Pfluke with songs inspired by Wailuku and Kahoʻolawe
SMALL TOWN * BIG ART artist Anthony Pfluke will present a 30-minute public, outdoor pop-up performance featuring original songs inspired by the history, culture and sense of place of Kahoʻolawe and Wailuku, Maui. The event takes place on June 16, 2023, at Kīpuka Square beside the ʻĪao Theater in Wailuku.
