Construction is scheduled to begin Monday, March 1, 2021, on the Central Maui District maintenance operations building project.

The Central Maui Regional Sports Complex, Fields 9, 10, 11, 12 and 13, are scheduled to be reopened on Saturday, Nov. 9, 2019, following successful treatment for tropical fire ants at the complex.

There are dozens of cars parked on the grass in the park, despite NO Parking on grass signs posted every few feet. Who is supposed to be enforcing this, and why are they not?

Funding was included for several key capital improvement projects in Central Maui, including funds for: the widening of Puʻunēnē Avenue; planning and design of a new middle school in Central Maui; and design and construction of a Central Maui Regional Park and Sports Complex.

State officials say, the improvement of current facilities and development of world-class, state-of-the-art venues are also part of the initiative, intended to attract sporting events and athletic training opportunities not only on Oʻahu but throughout the state.

The property was purchased by the County of Maui from A&B for an estimated $5.2 million, in a deal which closed on Sept. 27.

The facility will include sports fields and courts on an estimated 209 acres located off of the Kuihelani Highway near East Waiko Road.

“Once completed, the park could serve as a venue to host local, statewide, national, and international sporting events. It has the potential to be a revenue generator for Maui and the state,” said Tsutsui.
