Mayor Richard Bissen is bringing Holomua Kākou back to East Maui next Wednesday and Thursday, as part of his continuing efforts to take county government to the rural areas of Maui County.

Mayor Richard Bissen has named Cynthia Lallo as chief of staff, effective today, as part of a restructuring of his executive leadership team in the Office of the Mayor. Former Chief of Staff Leo Caires is taking over duties as energy commissioner.

Maui Health has named Vijak Ayasanonda, MD, as the Maui Memorial Medical Center Medical Staff’s new Chief of Staff, effective Jan. 1, 2022.

Kaohu currently serves an executive aide for Councilmember Tamara Paltin.  Her name will surface for consideration at the full council meeting on Friday, Feb. 7.   Krueger currently serves as a legislative analyst in the Office of Council Services and be considered for the deputy clerk vacancy.

Maui Deputy Managing Director, Tyson Miyake, was named Chief of Staff today for Maui Mayor Michael Victorino’s administration.

Deidre Tegarden returns to her previous post as executive director of the Nisei Veterans Memorial Center. It was a position she held prior to accepting a role as Chief of Staff for Maui Mayor Michael Victorino last year–which she resigned from effective Dec. 15, 2019.

Former State Sen. Jill N. Tokuda has been named as the new executive director of the Nisei Veterans Memorial Center.

According to Victorino, more than 300 applications were received, including more than 100 applications for directorship and deputy director positions.

Mayor-Elect Michael Victorino will announce his Managing Director, department heads and Chief of Staff this afternoon.

The Hawaiʻi Tourism Authority, the state’s tourism agency, announced the appointment of Ronald Williams as the interim president and CEO of the agency.

Mayor-Elect Alan Arakawa today named Herman Andaya, Jr. as his chief of staff in his second announcement of leadership positions in the Arakawa administration.
