Water tanks relocated from Von Tempsky Community Center to support additional areas

The potable water tanks (water buffalos) previously stationed at the Von Tempsky Community Center (Kula Community Center) have been relocated to Ching’s Store and ʻUlupalakua Ranch Store to provide additional support in those areas.

DWS issues boil water notice for certain Upper Kula areas after heavy rains

The County of Maui Department of Water Supply issued a boil water notice for certain Upper Kula areas impacted by a main line break in Hāpapa Gulch during the winter storm.

Heavy rains have caused a main line break in Hāpapa Gulch in Kula. Due to the raging waters, DWS crews are currently unable to assess the extent of the damage.

Portion of Kekaulike Ave. in Kula to close for approximately nine months

The Hawai‘i Department of Transportation is notifying highway users and residents that beginning Monday, Sept. 9, a portion of Kekaulike Ave. (Route 377) between Waiakoa Road and ʻAlae Road will be closed for 24 hours, seven days a week, for approximately nine months.

Goodfellow Bros. will begin performing road work on Kekaulike Ave. at Mile 8.2 on Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2024. A Full road closure will be in effect for this construction area for the next nine months.

Downed power lines force closure of Lower Kula Road

Lower Kula Road is closed in both directions from Copp Road to Malia Iokepa Place due to downed power lines across the roadway. There is no estimated time on when the road will reopen.

Speed limit permanently reduced to 35 mph along a portion Kula Highway

Maui motorists are advised that the posted speed limit on Kula Highway (Route 37) between Lower Kula Road in the vicinity of the United States Post Office and Copp Road will be reduced from 45 mph to 35 mph in both directions.

Curbside Trash Pickups Rescheduled in Pāʻia and Kula

Due to a shortage of personnel, curbside trash collections have been rescheduled for pickup on Wednesday, July 14, in areas of Pāʻia and Kula, the County of Maui Department of Environmental Management announced.
