#David Malo Day

For over six decades, Lahainaluna High School has carried on the traditions of the annual Lā Davida Malo, Davida Malo Day celebration. This celebration not only honors Davida Malo, a graduate and Hawaiian scholar, it also honors the legacy set forth by those who have come before, and the kuleana to perpetuate this tradition for generations to come.

Maui Public Art Corps and the County of Maui unveiled the new Lahaina Think Space on April 1, with a traditional blessing led by Uncle Bill Garcia and hosted by Sissy Lake-Farm, Cultural Consultant for Maui Public Art Corps. The gathering marked the opening of a month-long interactive residency at Lahainaluna High School designed to center student voices and community storytelling as part of early conversations surrounding Lahaina’s future memorial spaces.

Lahainaluna High School’s Papa Hula O Lahainaluna (formerly Hawaiiana Club) and the Boarders’ Chorus proudly present its 2025 annual “Lā Davida Malo” (David Malo Day) on Saturday, April 12, 2025.  

Organizers of the annual David Malo Day event will speak at the Rotary Club of Lahaina Sunset on May 21, 2024. Eva and Danny Palakiko will share information about the event, held last month at Lahainaluna High School.
