County of Maui Department of Planning is informing property owners and residents within the Special Management Area (SMA) throughout Maui County of limited activities that are permissible due to the state’s emergency proclamation tied to the current and recent storms.

FEMA continues the debris removal mission on Maui
The focus has now shifted to commercial debris removal. Currently, all but eight commercial properties in Lahaina have been cleared and completed. All commercial properties are projected to be completed by early 2025.

Lahaina wildfire survivors were updated Wednesday on the progress of ash and debris removal from residential properties destroyed Aug. 8, and they learned the results of surveys aimed at assessing public sentiment in how to determine the final disposal site for thousands of burned homes.
Survey on Permanent Maui Disposal Site closes on Thursday
The County of Maui reminds residents that the last day to respond to its survey on a permanent disposal site for wildfire debris from Lahaina is this Thursday, Feb. 15.
Refrigerator and freezer collection offered for Lahaina residents in fire-impacted areas
To aid in the ongoing recovery of Maui’s wildfire impacted areas, the County of Maui Department of Environmental Management is working in partnership with Mālama Maui Nui to offer a free dedicated Refrigerator and Freezer Collection Event. The event is intended only for Lahaina-area residents residing within the restricted fire-affected zones.
