Fast Kine Maui 4-Day Film Challenge debuts with full house premiere in Lahaina

Hisako Film Lab, in collaboration with Fuzz Box Productions, successfully launched its inaugural Fast Kine Maui 4-Day Film Challenge, culminating in a premiere party on March 29 at The Fuzz Box in Lahaina. The event brought together filmmakers, friends, and community members to celebrate the four days of fast-paced creativity and original storytelling.

Hisako Film Lab is now accepting applications for their annual Summer Lab. Founded by Maui-raised filmmaker Destin Daniel Cretton, this advanced filmmaking program offers an in-depth immersion for motivated high school students eager to elevate their storytelling and production skills in an exciting, project-based environment.

40 outstanding honorees inducted into the inaugural ‘Maui Nui Hall of Fame’ at Kahului Airport

The first phase of the “Maui Nui Hall of Fame” was unveiled Sunday evening at Kahului Airport, featuring 40 inaugural inductees from Maui County who have made significant contributions in music, film, and sports in Hawai‘i and beyond. The event drew more than 100 Hawaiʻi icons, government leaders, residents and well-wishers who celebrated the accomplishments, talents and impressive careers of honorees who have left a lasting impact in their respective fields.

Maui Huliau Foundation and Hisako Film Lab collaborate on spring break filmmaking program for Maui youth

Maui Huliau Foundation is partnering with Hisako Film Lab to offer a five day condensed filmmaking program this spring break for youth in grades 7-12 from all schools. Students will work together over the five days to create a short environmental parody of a TV commercial. The program staff will provide equipment, as well as assistance in planning, filming, and editing. No prior experience is needed, but students must be able to attend all five days to participate.
