Search suspended for snorkeler reported missing off Kāʻanapali, Maui

The search for a missing snorkeler off of Kāʻanapali ended at nightfall on Monday after three days.  The missing man, John Weems, 75, of North Carolina was reported missing late Friday afternoon, when he failed to return from snorkeling off Kāʻanapali Beach.

Four injured when commercial catamaran runs aground on Kāʻanapali Beach

Four people were injured when a commercial catamaran ran aground on Kāʻanapali Beach in West Maui on Tuesday evening. The incident was reported at 7:15 p.m. on Sept. 10, 2024. DLNR reports that the vessel was removed this morning with no release of any hazardous materials reported.
