Click It or Ticket seat belt enforcement campaign runs from May 11-31, 2026
Beginning Monday, May 11, 2026, the Maui Police Department Traffic Division will participate in the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s “Click It or Ticket” enforcement campaign. Motorists will see heightened traffic enforcement and patrols, which will continue through Sunday, May 31, 2026, and include the use of unmarked patrol vehicles to enforce seat belt and child passenger restraint laws.
13 impaired driving arrests made during the MPD Graduation and Memorial Day Weekend Enforcement Campaign
The Maui Traffic Division conducted eight separate impaired driving checkpoints, and screened 1,768 vehicles, which resulted in 13 arrests for impaired driving, nine other arrests for various offenses, issued 23 citations, and towed six vehicles.
Maui police issue 383 citations, 68 warnings for traffic violations in February
The Maui Police Department, Traffic Division issued 383 citations and 68 warnings for various traffic violations and infractions in February. For the month of February, the DUI Task Force, along with other officers from the Solo Bike Detail and the
Vehicular Homicide Unit, made 33 arrests of motorists operating a vehicle while under the influence of an intoxicant, and 27 arrests for various other offenses.
Six Maui police Sergeants promoted to rank of Lieutenant
The Maui Police Department today announced the promotion of six Sergeants to the rank of Lieutenant. All promotions are scheduled to take effect on Nov. 16, 2022.
