The Hawaiian Music Series continues its 2026 season in Lahaina with its next free community concert on Thursday, May 28, from 6-7:30 p.m. The performance will take place at the series’ new location on the lawn of Waiola Church and will feature musicians Jarret Roback and Wilson Kanakaʻole.

Nine-year-old Maddie Ellner felt heartbroken to read about last year’s Maui wildfires, the destruction of the Lahaina Library and, especially, keiki who lost everything. The Orange County resident decided to take action: collect used books from family and friends to replace books lost on Maui in the wildfires, or be sold to buy new books.

The Holoholo Bookmobile will relocate to the Lahaina District Courthouse, beginning March 5.

“Although we were hoping to complete renovations before reopening to the public, the loss of the Lahaina Public Library in the terrible August fires prompted us to restore service in Kahului as quickly as possible,” said Stacey A. Aldrich, State Librarian.

Lahaina Public Library and North Beach – West Maui Benefit Fund invite the public to join University of Hawaʻi Mānoa Professor of Hawaiian Studies, Dr. Ronald C. Williams, on Saturday Nov. 26 from 2 to 3:30 p.m. when he will discuss the evolution of Hawaiʻi’s Kamehameha Day celebration since its beginnings in 1872.   

Lahaina Quest programs are back this winter with a series of free keiki and family programs during the winter school break.

Keiki can enjoy fun and interactive activities that focus on building and science at three Maui libraries

All public libraries in the state will be closed on Monday, Jan. 18, in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.

West Maui Lawmaker, Angus McKelvey testified Wednesday before the Board of Education to reject a proposal by the State Librarian that seeks the closure the Lahaina Library.
