Lāna‘i residents can save money on Energy Star appliances and lower electricity bills through Hawai‘i Energy’s Appliance Trade-Up Program.

The long-anticipated Lānaʻi Farmers Market – a collaboration among County of Maui and nonprofit partners – will kick off this Saturday from 7 a.m. to noon at Lāna‘i Entry Park (next to the fire station) and continue every first Saturday of the month.

A fire on Lānaʻi caused an estimated $55,000 in damage to a structure on Caldwell Avenue in Lānaʻi City early Thursday morning.  

Hiʻi is a place of cultural significance. It sits on a terrace of land that’s about 1,100 feet above sea level on rich agricultural lands stewarded in traditional times by native tenants. 

Lāna‘i High and Elementary School will be closed today, Thursday, Aug. 28, due to an unexpected power outage affecting the campus. The school is unable to provide meal services.

There have been two incidents that have been reported since May 2025 where coconut rhinoceros beetles (CRB) were detected on Lānaʻi in plants transported from Oʻahu.

County of Maui Holomua Kākou events that were scheduled for Wednesday, July 30, and Thursday, July 31, 2025, on Lānaʻi have been postponed following a statewide tsunami watch, warning and advisory that have since been canceled.

The resort team at Four Seasons Resort Lanai has put together a celebration taking place Saturday, Dec. 21 from noon to 4 p.m.

After eight months of closures, most of the roadway in Mānele Small Boat Harbor has reopened. Multiple water main breaks created issues with the section between the upper road and the lower, makai road. The middle section of the roadway will remain closed until further notice.

One man and two children were rescued by Coast Guard personnel after their boat capsized offshore of Lānaʻi Saturday. A helicopter crew located the capsized 16-foot boat about 7 miles south of Mānele Harbor. One man and two boys, ages 8 and 12, were clinging to the hull, not wearing life jackets.

Mayor Richard Bissen and his administration will host a community budget meeting from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 23, at ILWU Union Hall in Lānaʻi City.
