‘The Peek-a-Bows’ Season 2 premieres Oct. 28 on YouTube

Following the success of its first season, the beloved children’s series “The Peek-a-Bows” is returning for Season 2, premiering on Monday, Oct. 28, 2024, at 3 p.m. on YouTube. This season brings ‘Alani, Lena, and Poni, the colorful sisters of the rainbow, to life once again, captivating keiki and ‘ohana with storytelling, humor and cultural themes.

Maui Public Art: Makawao Sculpture Project on view through July 2024

In April 2024, sculptor and architect Matthias Neumann created an 8 x 8 x 11 foot sculpture on the front lawn of the Makawao Public Library inspired by the story of Hui Mo‘olelo participant Kim Thayer of Mauna Kahālāwai Watershed Partnership and Scott Fisher, Director of ʻĀina Stewardship at Hawai’i Land Trust.

Road Closure: Baldwin Ave. at Makawao Ave.

Motorists are advised of a motor vehicle accident on Baldwin Ave. at Makawao Ave. Maui police issued a road closure notice at 9:45 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 29, 2023. Motorists from Haʻikū, heading towards Makawao town are being redirected down Keʻe Road.

New Exhibit at Makawao History Museum

The Makawao History Museum is featuring a new exhibit on the landmark Kitada’s Kau Kau Korner Restaurant, a restaurant that served Makawao town from 1947-2007.

Makawao Town Loses Power

By Maui Now Staff Several Makawao businesses lost power today at approximately 1 p.m. Bystandars said they heard a loud crackle and saw sparks cascading down toward Baldwin Avenue. A Maui Electric Company crew and Maui Police Department officers were on the scene within minutes. It is unknown at this time when power will be restored
