Hawaiʻi businesses can learn practical strategies to improve their online visibility at next week’s Maui TechOhana, featuring a free workshop by Myna Marketing founder Nick Ponte.

There was standing-room-only this morning at the Malcom Center in Kīhei as the Maui Planning Commission began a much-anticipated public hearing on the hotly contested Honuaʻula master-planned community.

Plans for the Pāʻia Sugar Mill will be discussed during a Maui TechOhana meeting from 5:15 to 6:45 p.m. Nov. 20 at the Malcolm Center, 1305 N. Holopono St., Suite 5, in Kīhei. Seating is limited. The event also may be seen via livestream.

Operating since 2006, Kaheawa Wind 1, Maui’s first wind farm, was recently selected to the Final Award Group for the Stage 3 request for proposal (“RFP”) from Hawaiian Electric to continue operations at the existing wind farm. The facility has a production capacity of 30 megawatts of power, serving approximately 17,000 homes annually and is located in Ukumehame above Mā‘alaea Harbor.

South Maui Council Member Tom Cook will host a town hall meeting 6 p.m. June 27 at the Maui Economic Development Board’s Malcolm Center.

The next Maui TechOhana networking event, organized by Maui Economic Development Board, and supported by the County of Maui, will be held Thursday, May 9 from 5:15 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. The public gathering will feature guest speakers from the Maui Food Innovation Center, a value added food manufacturing incubator and accelerator in Hawaiʻi.

Maui residents in need of disaster assistance or who suffered the loss of personal documents during the Maui wildfires can seek help from a number of federal agencies at a resource fair on Saturday hosted by U.S. Rep. Jill Tokuda.
