#Maui drug bust

Three Kīhei residents were arrested during a drug bust at a South Maui home on Thursday, April 21, 2022.

A warrant was obtained after information was received that an adult male had been supplying students at King Kekaulike with butane hash oil (BHO) and marijuana.

Ruben Settle, 38, was sentenced on Monday, June 29 by Chief District Judge Susan Oki Mollway to 210 months in prison for his role in a plan to distribute methamphetamine on the Island of Maui. Evidence presented in court showed that Settle recruited other individuals to assist him in the distribution, including approximately 700 grams of “ice” that was seized from Settle by Maui police on Dec. 17, 2014.

A Maui man was charged with meth trafficking and a list of other offenses after a drug bust at a Wailuku home this week in which police recovered 290 grams of crystal methamphetamine.

Police credited Officer Biggos with his role in an investigation that dismantled the illegal distribution of prescription pills and other narcotics in Kīhei.

John Lee Balberdi, 39, was arrested and prosecuted after more than 550 grams of pure methamphetamine was seized from a Kahului home of a co-conspirator in February of 2009, said US Attorney Florence Nakakuni.

Maui Police arrested three men in connection with a long term investigation into a crystal methamphetamine, cannabis and cocaine drug trafficking organization operating out of Maui County.
