A Maui High School graduate has committed a $10 million endowment to the Maui High School Foundation, a gift that is likely the largest endowment ever to be made from a graduate to a Hawai‘i public school. This is the largest single monetary donation in the school’s history. The donor has chosen to remain anonymous.

A Hollywood director, Maui County Board of Supervisor and state House member, an influential labor and community leader, a couple who support students and their college aspirations, and a longtime athletic director are members of the 2023 Class of the Maui High School Hall of Honor. Five people will be inducted into the Maui High School Hall of Honor as its Class of 2022: Gil Keith-Agaran, Earl Tanaka, Lynette Ducosin, Yaemi Yogi and Keith Imada.

The Maui High School Foundation is seeking nominations for the 11th annual Maui High School Hall of Honor awards.

Honorees include: Vernon Patao – Class of 1988; Amos Lonokailua -Hewett- Class of 1989; Troy Keoni Orsono – Class of 2004; Randy Yamanuha – Retired Maui High School Principal; and Eugene Kennedy, Retired MHS teacher, registrar, coach.

Maui High’s Hall of Honor was created in 2011 and annually recognizes individuals with ties to Maui High School who have made outstanding contributions to the legacy of our school and to our school community.

The annual Maui High School Annual Hall of Honor event, originally scheduled for Sept. 22, 2020 in Waikapū, is officially cancelled, according to an announcement issued this morning by event chair Edward Garcia.

Submissions due by March 15.

The 2017 Maui High School’s Hall of Honor includes: Clinton Shiraishi; Stewart Stant; Mamoru Yamasaki; Tony Medeiros; and Marilyn Morikawa.
