Kahului SONIC team advances to final round of Dr. Pepper SONIC Games competition

The Kahului SONIC team has earned a spot among the Top 12 in the nation out of more than 3,100 teams and will compete in the final round of the Dr Pepper SONIC Games competition in Nashville on Oct. 5 — an exciting first-time Mainland experience for many of the team members.

Public and charter school enrollment for 2023-24 down slightly across the state

The four Lahainaluna Complex schools on Maui impacted by the Aug. 8 wildfires saw a combined enrollment decrease of 585 students compared to the previous school year while other Maui schools saw enrollment increases due to this fluctuation of displaced students.

Kahului Airport and Maui school improvement funds included in $163M in CIP release

Baldwin High School, Maui Waena Intermediate, and Waiheʻe and Wailuku Elementary schools are included on the list of places where CIP project funding was distributed in recent months. There’s also funds for Kahului Airport runway resurfacing and improvements and roadway improvements at the Consolidated Rental Car Facility.
