Road users are advised that Puʻunēnē Avenue (Route 3500) will be closed overnight Dec. 8-12 for work between Papa Avenue and Kūihelani Highway (Route 380).
Puʻunēnē Avenue closed for night work next week
The Hawaiʻi Department of Transportation (HDOT) notifies road users that Puʻunēnē Avenue (Route 3500) will be closed overnight next week for work between Wākea Avenue and Kūihelani Highway (Route 380).
Puʻunēnē Ave. between Papa and Kūihelani to be closed nightly beginning Monday, Sept. 8
Motorists are advised that all lanes on Puʻunēnē Avenue (Route 3500), between Papa Avenue and Kūihelani Highway (Route 380) will be closed nightly beginning, Monday, Sept. 8 for utility crossing and pavement reconstruction work.
Portion of Mayor Elmer F. Cravalho Way at Kahului Airport to be closed overnight
The Hawaiʻi Department of Transportation advises motorists that a portion of Mayor Elmer F. Cravalho Way (Route 3800) at Kahului Airport will be closed nightly on Tuesday, May 27 and Wednesday, May 28, for safety improvements.
Expect traffic delays with night hauling of Kilohana temporary modular homes
Maui traffic delays can be expected from 8 p.m. to 3 a.m. the next day on Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 16-17, according to the Hawai‘i Department of Transportation. Trucks will be hauling temporary modular homes for wildfire survivors from a baseyard on Hansen Road to the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s Kilohana temporary housing site in Lahaina.
Closures at Kahului intersection for early morning work Tuesday and Thursday
The Hawai‘i Department of Transportation advises highway users that single lanes will be closed at the intersection of Puʻunēnē Avenue (Route 3500), Kūihelani Highway (Route 380), Maui Veterans Highway (Route 311) and Mayor Elmer F. Cravalho Way (Route 3800), on Tuesday, Oct. 22 and Thursday, Oct. 24, from 3 a.m. to 7 a.m.
Puʻunēnē Ave. improvements subject of public meeting, Oct. 10
The project, to widen Puʻunēnē Ave. from two to four lanes between Wākea Ave. and Kūihelani Highway, is expected to begin in January 2025. Multimodal and safety improvements planned as part of this project include: a contiguous paved shoulder, new sidewalks on both sides of Puʻunēnē Ave., a landscaped median between Puʻukani St. and Mayor Elmer F. Cravalho Way, two noise walls, enhanced street lighting, new signage and updated drainage and storm water management. Construction of these improvements is expected to run through Spring 2026.
