Maui Council’s FY26 budget: Final vote looms amid shifting justifications, lingering questions

The budget pending second reading on Tuesday, has been reduced $9.4 million from the Budget Committee, but still $46 million more than the Bissen proposed budget. Once approved, the budget will go into effect July 1.

Voters have until Nov. 13 to fix deficient ballots

Maui County voters who received notification of an issue with their ballot return envelope for the this year’s General Election have until 4:30 p.m. Nov. 13 to fix the issue so that their ballot may be counted.

Council Chambers to close for election-related activities

The Council Chambers on the eighth floor of the Kalana O Maui building in Wailuku will be closed beginning Oct. 18 until late next month for general election activities, according to an announcement from Council Chair Alice Lee.

Maui candidate filing begins Feb. 1, 2024

Candidate nomination and filing services begin Feb. 1, 2024 on Maui, according to an announcement issued by the Elections Division of the Office of the County Clerk. The deadline to file nomination papers is June 4, 2024, at 4:30 p.m.
