The award recognized the military, local law enforcement and community agencies that have come together through Operation Keiki Shield to combat internet and child sex trafficking crimes within the active-duty military in Hawaiʻi.

Maui police arrested four individuals for charges related to internet-facilitated sexual offenses against children during Operation Keiki Shield 22, which took place between Thursday March 14, and Sunday, March 17, 2024.

The joint Operation Keiki Shield 17 law enforcement operation netted nine arrests on the island of Maui over a three day effort conducted Friday April 14 through Sunday, April 16, 2023. Two of the individuals identified were non-US citizens from the mainland. Police say the individuals were arrested on charges related to internet-facilitated sexual offenses against children. All individuasl were being held on $100,000 bail each.

A multiagency undercover law enforcement operation targeting child sexual predators in Hawaiʻi resulted in the arrest of four individuals on charges related to the solicitation of minors. Those arrested include one National Guard member, two Sailors, and one soldier.

Three Maui residents were charged with first degree electronic enticement of a child as a result of a coordinated Operation Keiki Shield 12 effort by law enforcement, police said.

Six individuals were arrested and charged during the state’s Operation Keiki Shield 10 enforcement effort that was conducted between Friday and Sunday, Dec. 3-5, 2021 on Maui. All six are accused of first degree Electronic Enticement of a Child.

A multiagency undercover law enforcement operation targeting child sexual predators in Hawaii from April 2-4 resulted in the arrest of three individuals on charges related to the solicitation of minors. Those arrested include two active duty soldiers and one active duty Marine.

A Kīhei man arrested during this month’s Operation Keiki Shield 7 law enforcement operation, is now accused of sex assault by individuals who have since come forward, police said.

Seven men were arrested on Maui during the “Operation Keiki Shield 7” law enforcement operation carried out between Friday, March 12 and Sunday March 14.

Police say those arrested allegedly took “substantial steps” to meet up with those “minors” for the purpose of engaging in criminal sexual acts with them.  However, instead of minors, these offenders were actually met and arrested by law enforcement officers, police said.

Keiki Shield is aimed at predators who approach children on-line for sex or sexual activities; suspects respond to law enforcement officers posing as juveniles on internet sites and are arrested when they arrive at the prearranged sites.
