Carissa Moore (HAW) and Maui’s Eli Hanneman claimed victories at the Florence Pipe Pro Presented by HTA on Saturday, a World Surf League Hawaiʻi/Tahiti Nui Qualifying Series men’s and women’s QS 2,000-level event.

The World Surf League Hawaiʻi/Tahiti Nui Qualifying Series returns to Tahiti for the Air Tahiti Rangiroa Pro, a men’s QS 1000, beginning March 3 through 7. This marks the final event of the men’s Hawaiʻi/Tahiti QS season to determine who will secure their place among the 2025 Challenger Series.

A masterclass in approaching Haleiwa unfolded in Quarterfinal Heat 3 of the World Surf League’s The Hawaiian Islands HIC Haleiwa Pro, featuring standout surfers Joshua Moniz (HAW), Kauli Vaast (FRA), Ian Gentil (HAW), and Kainehe Hunt (HAW).

The World Surf League Hawaiʻi/Tahiti Nui Qualifying Series The Hawaiian Islands Sunset Pro, a men’s and women’s QS 1000, continues to wait for opening day start as event organizers have called Wednesday, Oct. 30, and Thursday, Oct. 31, OFF. A projected swell for the weekend could see competition get underway with the event needing three days to run. 

Maui’s Jackson Bunch (HAW) emerged victorious at The Hawaiian Islands HIC Haleiwa Pro, a Hawaii/Tahiti Nui Qualifying Series (QS) 1,000, in solid six-to-eight foot conditions over heavily-stacked fields over the weekend.

Surf’s up as local and international talent converge for the HIC Haleʻiwa Pro — a critical Qualifying Series event set to shape the field for the 2024 Challenger Series and the Sambazon World Junior Championship.

Maui’s own Billy Kemper earned the runner-up spot in the men’s final, with fellow Valley Isle competitor, Kai Paula earning a fourth place finish.

At the 2022 International Surfing Association’s World Junior Surfing Championship in El Salvador, the Hawai’i Surf Team beat 45 countries to win the team title — and Luke Swanson and Wahiawā’s Ēweleiʻula Wong won individual gold medals. 

The World Surf League Michelob ULTRA Pure Gold Haleiwa Challenger, the final stop of the 2021 Challenger Series, is back ON with the men’s Quarterfinals starting at 8:05 a.m. HST in eight-to-ten foot swell at Haleiwa on Oʻahu. The Men’s Semifinals are on standby along with the women’s Round of 32.
