Workshop on Wahikuli sewer design to be held 6-8 p.m. Sept. 9 in Lahaina

Homeowners in the Wahikuli Houselots Subdivision are encouraged to attend an in-person workshop on the Wahikuli Gravity Sewer Design Project on Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2025, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Lahaina Resource Center at Lahaina Gateway.

Residents encouraged to attend in-person Lahaina Community Meeting this Wednesday, Aug. 13

Debris transport, the Wahikuli sewer project, and Hoʻokumu Hou housing programs will be discussed at the upcoming Lahaina Community Meeting, set to take place at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 13, at the Lahaina Intermediate School cafeteria.

EPA advances Wahikuli sewer project design, as part of Maui wildfire recovery

The proposed project seeks to upgrade these properties to a gravity sewer system, eliminating environmental impacts from cesspools and leaking septic systems while providing a wastewater management system more resilient to disaster hazards from wildfires, flooding, and tsunami.

Wahikuli sewer system update to be provided at Wednesday Disaster Recovery Community Meeting

The County Department of Environmental Management will provide updates on three key areas of recovery: an update on areas that have had sewer service restored; a brief update on the US Environmental Protection Agency’s Wahikuli sewer project; and information regarding the County’s recently announced agreement to acquire land from Nan, Inc., adjacent to the Central Maui Landfill, that would be used for the Permanent Disposal Site of Lahaina fire debris.
