Draft EA filed for Hālau of ‘Ōiwi Art, construction expected to start in 2024

The Hālau replaces the three-story County building that was originally proposed for the site as part of the Wailuku Civic Complex project. Construction is expected to break ground in 2024, with completion slated for 2026.

Artists sought for public work to be featured on new Wailuku Municipal Parking Structure

A SMALL TOWN * BIG ART Request for Expression of Interest (REOI) recently went live for orientation-based artwork at five sites within the Wailuku Municipal Parking Structure, which is currently under construction in the heart of Wailuku town. The art will function as directional signage and offer a wayfinding element that draws people to entry and exit points, a news release said. Application deadline is March 26.

Wailuku Town Municipal Parking Lot Closure Starts May 3

The County of Maui Department of Management announces the closure of the Municipal Parking Lot in Wailuku due to construction of the new four-level parking structure starting May 3, 2021.

Blessing ceremony held for new Wailuku Parking Structure

The new four-level parking structure will feature a total of 428 parking stalls, EV charging stations, high ceilings and lighting for better visibility, two elevators, and it will be ADA compliant. The facility was also designed to support farmers markets and festivals on the ground level.

County Breaks Ground on Wailuku Town Improvements Project

A groundbreaking ceremony was held today for the County of Maui’s Wailuku Town Improvement Project. Road improvements will begin this week on Church Street as part of Phase 1A of the project.
