County Department of Water Supply ends water shortages for Upcountry, West Maui

With a recent Kona Low storm drenching Maui County, the Department of Water Supply lifted the Stage 1 water shortage for the Upcountry service area and the Stage 2 water shortage for the West Maui service area, effective Monday.

Maui Land & Pineapple Company, Inc. has filed a countersuit against Kapalua Golf Courses and Luxury Homes alleging “misinformation” on water use and drought conditions. MLP says TY Management, owner of the Kapalua golf courses chose “false claims,” and says the countersuit was filed in an effort to “set the record straight.”

A Stage 1 water shortage is now in effect for customers in the Upcountry, Maui, service area, the County of Maui Department of Water Supply announced.

Stage 1 Water Shortage Declaration for Upcountry Maui Takes Effect July 2

A Stage 1 water shortage declaration will take effect July 2, 2021 for Upcountry Maui, due to dry conditions and high water use. Beginning July 2, the department will prohibit Upcountry water consumers from using water for irrigation, watering lawns, washing vehicles or other nonessential activities.
