A 63-year-old man was rescued from the pali lookout on Maui after falling approximately 20- to 30-feet on Saturday evening, fire officials said.

The appraisal is for the 2.5 mile stretch of shoreline from Olowalu to Puamana that the county is considering for purchase, to use as future park space.

It’s the weekend and these particular 48 hours offer fundraisers galore and three funky – two perhaps even avant garde – shows at the MACC.

Website Tracks Tiger Sharks Tagged Near Maui

So far, the website features tracking of seven sharks–one male and six female–ranging in size from 9.3 feet to 14.2 feet. The tracking dates back to the period starting between Oct. 17 and 20, 2013, when the sharks were first tagged with the satellite devices.

County crews kept Baldwin Park in Pāʻia closed for a second day on Thursday, because of flooding conditions overnight caused by high surf.

Judge Karl Sakamoto today issued a ruling in support of a newly passed law that legalizes same sex marriage in Hawaiʻi, in response to a challenge that was filed by opponents seeking court intervention to prevent its implementation.

Wailuku Man Arrested on Allegations of Kidnapping, Beating

A Wailuku man was arrested over the weekend after allegedly kidnapping his girlfriend, tying her up at his residence, and holding her against her will for two days before she was able to escape.

Recent heavy rains and forecasts calling for more wet weather, prompted a cancellation today of the 20% voluntary water restriction that was in place for Upcountry water customers.

Hawaiʻi Becomes 15th State to Legalize Same Sex Marriage

At 10:51 a.m. HST, on Wednesday, Nov. 13, Hawaiʻi became the 15th state to legally recognize same-sex marriage, as Governor Neil Abercrombie signed the bill into law before an invited crowd at the Hawaiʻi Convention Center.

Drive With Caution: Nēnē Nesting Season at Haleakalā

Nēnē breeding and nesting season has started at Haleakalā National Park, prompting an advisory to visitors to obey posted speed limits and exercise caution while driving in the park. Last year, park officials said that on average, there has been one nēnē road fatality per year during the nesting season.
